HCTP offers the following classes for 2026 Spring Term:

English Language Art (ELA) Builders

Class Description:

Strengthen your 1st grader’s phonics, reading, and writing skills in our engaging ELA enrichment class! Using the highly regarded ELA curriculum from Open Up Resources, this class provides structured instruction that complements what students are learning in school. Each week, students build new phonics skills, explore a carefully selected poem and story, and enjoy a read-aloud led by the TA—all in a supportive, fun, and interactive learning environment.

For Grade 1.


Math Tutoring

Class Description:

Math just got fun! In this tutoring class for 1st - 3rd graders, students strengthen their foundational skills, tackle problem-solving challenges, play engaging math games, and build confidence every step of the way. Small groups and friendly high school volunteers provide encouragement, support, and extra help—so every student can succeed and have a blast while learning!

For Grades 1-3.


Vibe Coding

Class Description:

Build real apps and interactive websites while learning HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and real-world APIs in a fun, hands-on program that boosts confidence and tech skills (please check https://github.com/benchvue/vibe-coding for examples). Students Will Build 3 Projects:

• Movie Actor Explorer

• Solar System 3D Experience

• Earthquake Data Viewer

Development Approach & Technology:

• Build First, Explain Later – Quickly create working prototypes or models, then refine and improve.

• Real Technology – HTML for structure, CSS for style, JavaScript for interactivity, and APIs for live data.

A fun, low-pressure way to explore coding, solve problems, and gain a strong foundation for future computer science classes.

For Grades 8-10.


Dates:

  • English Language Art (ELA) Builders: April 12 - June 7 (8 Sundays)

  • Math Tutoring: April 12 - June 7 (8 Sundays)

  • Vibe Coding: April 12 - June 7 (7 Sundays)

  • For all programs, there will no class for Memorial Day weekend Sunday, May 24.

  • For Vibe coding program, there will also be no class on Sunday, May 31.

Where:

Hanaim Church, 690 River Rd, Elmwood Park, NJ 07407

Cost:

  • Free, with a refundable deposit of $100 (Deposit is due by April 1), and it will be refunded at the last class ONLY IF the child attends at least 80% of classes (6 of 8 or 6 of 7 classes).

  • For Vibe Coding class, students will need a 2-month subscription to ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro (total $40). Details will be provided after acceptance.
